For years and years I was criticized and ridiculed with phrases like, "Boy, you sure turn on the tears awfully easily" and "what is wrong with you? Why do you take things so seriously?"
Sound familar? Well, I have news for you. This is NOT abnormal. About a third (if not more) of everyone living feels this way - this is called EMPATHY. It is a gift (and may feel like a curse!) whereby a person feels so much more intensely than most - people who are wonderfully optimistic usually, and very sensitive, very compassionate and tend to be so service oriented....wonderful traits!
BUT
The downside is that, as sensitive people, we are like RADAR - that is, we "pick up" the emotions of others SO MUCH that we "cry at the drop of a hat", we are "unfocused" most of the time, we just can't seem to sleep enough or sleep too much, and a whole array of other "symptoms"......
BUT
There ARE ways to "embrace" our gift and be able to have "quality of life" without the curse of having to have misery" along with the people we "pick up"? Please continue to read on as the days go by, because you are now embarking on a new journey of discovery for you !
The content here relates to my life and feelings too. I always knew I was not like other people. Thanks for publishing this blog. You obviously have this "talent" in yourself in a big way. It's wonderful you don't have to keep it bottled up any longer. I am so fortunate to have you as my cousin! But I don't remember a cry baby. I remember a girl with a huge smile!
